The Sierra Madre in the state of Durango is characterized
by its great canyons and probably it is the county of
San Dimas the best example of this. The nanyons of Ventanas
and Piaxtla that cross its boundaries areimpressive
because of their depth end endless rock formations.
In the Piaxtla canyon down by its river, is where we
will find the town of Tayoltita (water between mountains)
now with its mining vocation but of indian origin that
goes back to the time of the Acaxees and Xixime Indians.
In our adventure we will cross the most rugged part
of the Sierra Madre going by the Huehento mountain,
taht with is 3300 mts (10,000 ft) above sea level is
one of the highest points in the northwest of Sierra
Madre, from here the descent of the Piaxtla canyon has
to be a ciclysts dream.
